Promoting sustainable tourism that creates jobs and promotes local culture and products (Target 8.9)
The Lake District Foundation is a charity raising funds from visitors and the tourism industry and distributing them to sustainable projects. Their share the aim of the Lake District National Park Partnership to make the English Lake District “an inspirational example of sustainable development in action”.

Encouraging the formalization and growth of micro-, small- and medium-sized enterprises, including through access to financial services (Target 8.3)
The Cumbria Innovations Platform (CUSP II) provides Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Cumbria with the opportunity to access practical and academic guidance from the universities of Lancaster and Cumbria, boosting their innovative activity and business growth. In turn, the platform enables students and graduates with internship and masters research placement opportunities.

Substantially reducing the proportion of youth not in employment, education or training (Target 8.6)
In Lancashire, youth unemployment is highest amongst the 15-24 age group. The Lancashire Skills & Employment Hub offer support to those facing difficulty getting into work, such as the Invest in Youth project: a three-year programme working with 1100 young people in Lancashire to improve their skills and employability.
