SDG 2: Zero Hunger

End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture

“The World We Want is one without hunger. We will work to improve food security across the globe. Don’t we all have the right to nutrition? Don’t we all have a stake in sustainable agriculture?”

The World We Want

What does SDG 2 mean to us?

  • Ending hunger by 2030 and ensuring access by all people, in particular the poor and people in vulnerable situations, including infants, to safe, nutritious and sufficient food all year round (Target 2.1)

The Covid-19 pandemic has dramatically increased the already high level of food insecurity in Lancashire. The Lancaster District Food Poverty Alliance is bringing together agencies and individuals to discuss the problem, research food insecurity locally, and provide a forum to share resources and best practice.

  • Doubling the agricultural productivity and incomes of small-scale food producers, in particular women, indigenous peoples, family farmers, pastoralists and fishers (Target 2.3)

Lake District Farmers are working with family-run farms to produce a sustainable future for fell farming in Cumbria. They work with over 50 farms to supply customers with meat products produced by traditional and sustainable means.

Regenerative agriculture is an example of how farmers can meet growing food demands, enabling more food to be grown on less land.
