What does SDG 1 mean to us?

Reducing poverty by at least 50% (Target 1.2)
Cumbria is one of the poorest rural areas in England, with 29 of its communities within the 10% most deprived in the UK. These communities are all found within the areas of Allerdale, Barrow-in-Furness, Carlisle and Copeland.

Equal rights to ownership, basic services, technology and economic resources (Target 1.4)
Cuts to local services are adversely affecting the quality of life of those living in rural and coastal areas. This recent report by the University of Cumbria illustrates how the lack of access to public services is leaving communities such as Maryport behind.
